46. Tillie Tuesday March 29
It’s just another Tillie Tuesday…
Tillie, on secret friendships
Tillie: Daddy, can I tell you something? There’s a boy at school I’m secret friends with.
Me: Oh? How long have you been secret friends?
Tillie: A long time, apparently.
Me: What do you do when you are secret friends?
Tillie: I don’t know. He just told me today.
Tillie, on anatomy
“I feel like the mouth is just a big crack in your head.”
Tillie, on fashion accessories as social props
Tillie has a souvenir in a bag with two handles. She puts the handles over her wrist, her elbow against her body, then swings her arm out to the side and starts walking.
“Mama, is this what people do when they’re fancy?”
Tillie, on the importance of seeking options
Tillie: What does avenge mean?
We define it.
Tillie: It’s kind of a cowardly word.
Tillie, on generational perks
Me: So, what did you have for breakfast?
Tillie: I had waffles and bananas and topped it off with chocolate ice cream.
Me: Man, that sounds amazing. I wish I were you.
Tillie: Yeah but is it fair that you got to go more than half your childhood without wearing a seatbelt? Is that fair?
Tillie, on waiting to hear the Bruno song at the Oscars.
She hears music and runs out of her bedroom
Tillie: When are they going to have another song?
Me: They just had one but I wasn’t sure you would like it.
Tillie: What was it all about?
Me: It was a song about hope.
Tillie: Yeah, I’m not going to watch it.
And, finally,
Tillie, pondering her constant winning at Connect Four game:
“Do you think that God blessed me with good luck in my life? Or maybe I was just born lucky.”
