42. Tillie Tuesday Feb. 8, 2022
It’s just another Tillie Tuesday,
I wish it were a snooze day,
But it’s my news day,
And just another Tillie Tuesday
Tillie Tuesday, the Things I Know Edition
Tillie, on how to start a conversation
Tillie: Daddy, were you just thinking how do lady grasshoppers eat the boy grasshoppers?
Me: Um…
Tillie: Well, the girl grasshoppers are bigger than the boy grasshoppers. So if you were wondering how the girls could eat the boy grasshoppers did I just solve the mystery?
Me: Yes, thanks.
Tillie: You didn’t know that, did you?
Me: No.
2. Tillie, on knowing more things
“Did you know that the giant squid has three hearts? And apparently it’s brain is the size of a small donut.”
3. Tillie, on following the plan
Tillie and Jeanne slept together.
Tillie: Mommy, if you wake up you can go do some work but then come back to bed and sleep some more before you wake me up before 7. Got it?
Jeanne: Okay, got it.
Tillie: Okay, that’s the plan.
Jeanne wakes up at 2:30 and checks the time on her phone. Tillie wakes up.
Tillie: I thought we had a plan, Mommy.
Jeanne: Okay. Go back to sleep.
Jeanne gets up to work and at 7. I go in to check on Tillie. First words out of her mouth:
Tillie: Daddy, Mommy betrayed me.
4. Tillie, on dancing shiva
“Oh, my leg fell asleep. I’m just going to do a quick yoga move. Go ahead, try to blow me over. Let’s see if I’m stable or not. Oh no! My tree is too weak!”
5. Tillie, on anatomy of a cold
Tillie: Daddy, last night I had a frog in my throat.
Me: Oh, is it still there?
Tillie: No. When the frog goes it leaves a tadpole. Then the tadpole will blow up and disappear. Right now I just have the tadpole.
6. Tillie, on the challenge of being the light
“Somehow my brain always remembers the darkest things and forgets the lightest things.”
7. Tillie, for the win
Jeanne: (As we were driving home from a family outing ) Okay family. Let’s make it home without any technology.
Tillie: We are literally in technology right now. So we all lose.
And, finally,
8. Tillie, on the nature of nature
“Daddy, do you think sunrises and sunsets are gifts from God because they are so beautiful? Or do you just think the Northern Lights are a gift from God?”
