40. Tillie Tuesday Nov. 16, 2021
It’s just another Tillie Tuesday,
I wish it were a snooze day,
But it’s my news day,
And just another Tillie Tuesday.
Tillie Tuesday, the “Wanna play?” Edition
Tillie, on how to negotiate play time
“One more minute…Fine, sixty seconds.”
Tillie, on playing with injuries
Jeanne: Are you okay?
Tillie: Yes, I just sprained my arm. Don’t worry. It wasn’t my bad arm.
Tillie, on the road to calculus
Tillie: 9 x 10 = 90. Takeaway 9 and you have 81. So 9 x 9 = 81.
Jeanne: What do you call that when you do that? (Trying to get Tillie to say “helper facts”)
Tillie: Math?
Tillie, on holding her own vs millions of counter opinions
Tillie: (as we watched Adele sing)
This is boring. The good news is she didn’t hear me say that.
Me: You like her better than Bob Dylan, though, right?
Tillie: Yes, but only by one point.
Tillie, on packing her essentials to visit her cousins
“Daddy, did you get my crown and my vampire teeth?”
Tillie, on finding her princess pillow for the same trip
“Princess pillow has a love sensor so I can always find her.”
Tillie, on winning at gagaball
Me: Good game.
Tillie: We don’t do good game.
Me: You should try to say good game to the winner.
Tillie: Most of the winners are bully boys.
Me: Try saying good game and see what happens.
Tillie: You can’t make me say words, you know. They are my words.
Me: Okay. Good game.
Tillie: uugghhhh!
Tillie, on how driving and texting is not a game
“That guy could have an accident. Not the pee kind but the car crash kind.”
Tillie, on the importance of cliffhangers
Tillie: Do you know what is creepy, weird, and gross?
Me: What?
Tillie: I’m not telling.
Tillie, on bringing the new babysitter up to speed
“Do you know what MagnaTiles are? How about Qbix? Qbix are next level MagnaTiles because they’re dimensional.”
Tillie, on teachers are different…duh!
Me: Did Mrs. ____ say “Yay, Tillie’s back!?”
Tillie: Um, not really. Remember, Mrs. ___ is not Mrs. Cunningham.
Tillie, on keeping Dad on his toes
(Tillie gets off the bus carrying her stuffed animal)
Me: Hi Tillie!
Tillie: Shhhh! Can’t you see Icy is sleeping?
And, finally,
Tillie, on stepping into her world
“You are now in my wonderland of colors.”
