16. Tillie Tuesday March 23, 2021
It’s just another Tillie Tuesday,
I wish it were a snooze day,
But it’s my news day,
And just another Tillie Tuesday.
Tillie, describing a family group hug:
“You were making me the cheese of a sandwich.”
Tillie, expounding on the main food groups:
“Everything is made out of meat except plants and lightbulbs and stuff.”
Tillie, helping to determine the appropriate discipline for her behavior:
“I am going to ground myself until I’m an old woman.”
Tillie, on the words of forgiveness:
For a stretch of time Tillie was saying “I’m sorry” almost every time we asked her to do something. To break the pattern we asked her to come up with a different word to say. Tillie landed on “soy sauce.” So, now we have “I’m so, so soy sauce.” The other night she told me that instead of “I forgive you” I should answer, “I rice you” because soy sauce and rice go together just like apology and forgiveness.
Tillie, on the recipe for making pancakes:
Tillie likes to help make the pancakes by mixing the ingredients in this way. First, she forms the flour into the shape of a volcano with a crater in the middle. Then she pours the egg in as “lava.” Next, the buttermilk is the “eruption.” The last time she made them when she added the vanilla she said, “And here comes the ‘love lava’.”
Tillie, after accidentally kicking my leg:
Tillie: Sorry I kicked your leg. Was that your bad leg?
Me: No.
Tillie: Was that your other leg?
And, finally,
Tillie describing a wide open tulip bloom:
“That flower is fully awake.”
