35. Tillie Tuesday Aug. 31, 2021
It’s just another Tillie Tuesday,
I wish it were a snooze day,
But it’s my news day,
And just another Tillie Tuesday.
Tillie Tuesday, a Special Back to School Edition
Tillie, on conservation
Tillie: Why do I have to have water? Why don’t I get something special to drink?
Me: You know, Tillie, there are cities in our country that are actually running out of water. So you might say that water is the most special drink of all.
(Two minutes later).
Tillie: I will drink Sprite so that we can save the water to share with the towns that are running out of water.
Tillie, on the evidence of love
Me: I love you.
Tillie: Prove it.
Me: That’s not how love works. In our house we don’t have to prove our love we just love each other.
Tillie: We’re not at our house. We’re at the cabin.
Tillie, on names for father
The first name Tillie called me was Baba (Mandarin for father. Pronounced “Bobba”). It went: Baba, Daddy, Father, Duane Andrew Hartfield, Dad. Recently, Tillie started calling me Baba again. And, then, her newest name:
“What’s for breakfast, Bobs?”
Tillie, on knowing your limits
“Daddy, can you help me? I can’t reach the red squares. My eyes are longer than my arms. (After a pause). That’s a new phrase.”
Tillie, the food critic, after her cousins took her out to eat:
“They are really, really, really good. Like when you say ‘Hit your spot’? Well, those noodles really hit my spot. And they will hit your spot, too!”
Tillie, on knowing your belongings
“We have tons of stuffed animals…It’s actually less than tons.”
Tillie, on wonderment
“Why is the sky so high? Maybe because it doesn’t want to be touched?”
And, finally,
Tillie, on knowing thyself
“Never underestimate my brain. Right guys?”
