10. Tillie Tuesday Feb. 9, 2021

It’s just another Tillie Tuesday,

I wish it were a snooze day,

But it’s my news day,

And just another Tillie Tuesday.

Tillie, explaining how I can still be part of the team:

“Girls rule. Boys drool. But you can be a special part of the girls rule if you want to, Daddy.”

Tillie, on traffic:

We left the house and way down our country road there was one lone vehicle.

Tillie said, “Why does it feel like there’s going to be a traffic jam soon?”

Tillie, at 3 am, talking in her sleep:

“Ew.” (Kinda makes me wonder about that dream.)

Tillie, on back massage:

“Do you like that massage daddy?”

“Yes.”

“I’m mostly trying to hurt you. Now can you feel the pain?”

Tillie, teaching the alphabet:

She takes me through the letters by having me repeat after her. When we get to Z she says, “Don’t forget the commercial.”

Me: What’s the commercial?

Tillie: “Now I know my ABCs. Next time won’t you sing with me?”

Oh, yes, the commercial.

Tillie, on bus rules:

Tillie tells us this as she is talking non-stop on the way to the airport at six am:

“Can I tell you something? When I’m on the bus Jenny (her bus driver) says I have to whisper because she needs to focus on the slippery roads.”

Smart woman, that Jenny.

Tillie, apparently talking about the nature of reality as I tell her good night:

“This feels surreal. Am I in a dream? Who are you?”

It is a fact that Tillie loves all the colors of the rainbow. When she had her Kindergarten screening they asked Tillie to choose her favorite color to draw some shapes. Tillie said, “Rainbow.” They told her they didn’t have that color. She would have to pick. So, for the first shape Tillie chose Red. The next she traded her red for Orange. Then Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple. By the time she was finished she had her favorite color.

So, finally, Tillie on the meaning of her art:

“Daddy...Can I tell you a secret about my art? Everyone thinks it’s just about rainbows. But, actually, it’s about life and stuff.”
